3 Skills AI Can't Replace — and How to Build Them

Follow on Instagram

I use AI every week — for my website, content and ads. So I'm not going to tell you AI is hype. But there are three things I never hand to AI. This guide turns each one into a practice you can start this week.

In this guide

  • Why these 3 skills become more valuable as AI grows
  • A weekly exercise for each skill
  • A 30-day plan
  • How to use AI to practise them faster

Why these three

AI makes information and production cheap. When something becomes cheap, the things around it become valuable. Information is everywhere — so the ability to help someone decide, the trust that makes them listen to you, and the judgement to choose well become the scarce skills.

Skill 1 — Selling

Every career is a sales career. You sell ideas in meetings, yourself in interviews, and products to customers. Selling isn't pushing — it's understanding what someone needs and helping them decide.

  • Weekly exercise: have one conversation where you only ask questions for the first 10 minutes. No pitching.
  • Learn the structure: Map → Pinpoint → Plan (see the sales call guide)
  • Use AI to practise: ask it to role-play a sceptical customer and object to your offer
Role-play as a sceptical customer considering [my offer] at [price]. Raise realistic objections one at a time. After 6 exchanges, score my responses out of 10 and tell me what to improve.

Skill 2 — Trust

People get information from AI. They give their money to people. Trust is built from three things repeated over time: showing up consistently, being specific and honest, and showing real results.

  • Weekly exercise: share one thing you learned or did this week — publicly, with specifics
  • Never claim a result you can't prove. One honest number beats ten vague promises.
  • Collect proof: ask every happy client for a short testimonial, the same week they get a result

Skill 3 — Judgement

AI will give you ten options. Choosing the right one — for your situation, values and risk — is yours. Judgement grows when you make decisions deliberately and review them later.

  • Weekly exercise: keep a decision journal. For every important decision, write what you decided, why, and what you expect to happen.
  • Review it monthly. Where were you right? Where were you wrong — and why?
  • For big decisions, sleep on it. One night minimum.

Your 30-day plan

  • Week 1: 2 question-only conversations + start the decision journal
  • Week 2: 3 AI role-plays on objections + share one lesson publicly
  • Week 3: run one real call with Map → Pinpoint → Plan + collect one testimonial
  • Week 4: review your decision journal + write down what you'll keep practising
Do this today: start the decision journal. Write down one decision you're facing, what you'll choose and why. It takes five minutes and it's the habit that compounds the most.

Questions

Will AI replace salespeople?

AI will handle more research, follow-up and admin. The person who understands the customer and helps them decide becomes more valuable, not less.

How can I build trust online if I'm just starting?

Share specific, honest lessons consistently, show small real results, and collect testimonials as soon as clients get a win.

Can AI help me practise these skills?

Yes — use it for sales role-plays, to critique your messages and to challenge your decisions. Just keep the final decision yours.
